Paper Hearts and Teabags

"Aren't we all like teabags? We don't know our own strengths till we're in hot water."

-Emily Gao

Our hearts are like paper. Used all the time. Its value is overlooked. Fragile. Mistakenly viewed as simple. Each person who is able to see the truth in that heart leaves behind a permanent wrinkle. Each person given the power to hold that heart in his or her hand and do whatever he or she pleases with it can either keep it in its original condition, rip it, tear it in two, or write a beautiful, pure, and colorful story on it.

Glitter

Choreographed with a scarf during lunch.

Tried to be innovative.

Wrapped it around my face, around my leg, etc etc.

Didn’t notice the scarf was glittery, until I got to 3rd period and the person who sat behind me told me I had so much glitter on my face that I looked like Ke$ha.

Then I noticed it was all over my pants, my arms, my hands, my face, my hair, my socks, the inside of my shoes…

And people would NOT stop pointing out that I was sparkling. And that I looked like a Ke$ha vampire that someone poured a bucket of glitter all over.

Noobs.

I WALKED ACROSS CAMPUS LIKE THAT. WITHOUT KNOWING. Ugh.

Oh Rayna would be so proud.

……. I’m still glittery.
